Susie at Susie's Studio

A little about me…

Hi, I’m Susie Talbot, I live in the North of England, in Lancashire and have my jewellery and leatherwork studio in my garden workshop. I work there in my cosy, purpose built studio with with my lovely husband Andrew Talbot who paints beautiful hyperreal oil paintings (add link to his website). It is a lovely creative little hub and a wonderful place to work!

We also spend up to 4 months a year in Provence in the south of France where we have had the pleasure of renovating a very run down little house in a tiny Provençal village. I spend a lot of time there searching the stalls of brocantes and antique markets for antique silverware, then working in an attic studio in France to transform it into beautiful jewellery.

I enjoy the whole process of creating things, both from leather and silver. Taking a beautifully crafted leather hide or an exquisitely made silver spoon and turning it into something even more beautiful and wearable, something to enjoy wearing and using, day after day.

Many of the silver items that I use to create my sterling silver jewellery are over 100 years old.. some 150 years old. I love to work with antique napkin rings, cigarette cases, antique forks and of course silver spoons with their exquisite details and engraving.

You might know me, Susie Talbot for the last nine years as ‘The little leather handbag company’. I have been creating beautifully handcrafted leather goods for this time, ranging for handbags and totes to belts, wallets, purses, valet trays and clutch bags. My leatherwork now continues under the new name of Susie’s studio and you will find purses, wallets and cross body bags on this site under the leatherwork section.

I don’t make bespoke leather items anymore but the select items that I do make come highly recommended, tried and tested for the last 9 years by my loyal customers and I am confident that a bag or purse that I have made with be your constant companion for many years to come. Built to last from the finest Italian top-grain, vegetable tanned leather, they will get better with age, becoming more supple, developing a beautiful patina and getting that coveted aged look that only comes with the very best leathers and everyday use.

Whether you are treating yourself or searching for the perfect gift for a loved one, you will find sterling silver jewellery and leather items here in simpler styles to bolder statement pieces, always a little bit different, often one of a kind and certainly always a talking point!

If you can’t seem to decide on a piece as a gift or don’t know which size to buy? How about buying a gift card? I promise to help the recipient find their perfect item when they are ready

And don’t forget to sign up for my newsletter to be kept up to date with my latest pop up shops, stands, and my latest news and creations… I would love to share it all with you and reward my loyal followers and customers with special offers.
